Tehran (IP) - The advisor to the Leader of Iran in the field of defense industry described the 20% uranium enrichment at the Fordow site as a minimal reaction to the US and European negligence Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In the framework of the steps taken to reduce nuclear commitments and the letter of Iran's President to European countries, in response to the process of US hostile actions against Iran and the cooperation of European countries with it, the Iranian Parliament approved a strategic action plan to lift sanctions.

According to Article 1 of the plan, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) is obliged to produce 20% enriched uranium for peaceful purposes and to store at least 120 kg of it annually inside the country; The organization is also required to fully meet the country's need for peaceful uses of uranium enriched above 20% without delay.

Iran's government spokesman announced on Monday the start of the 20 percent enriched uranium production process at the Fordow site south of Tehran.
