Tehran (IP) - In the past 24 hours, 102 COVID-19 patients had lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 55,540, which show a daily decrease from the pandemic's peak.

Iran PressIran News: Spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health, Sima Sadat Lari announced in her presser on Sunday that 1,243,434 people in the country had been infected with the coronavirus, and 1,013,018 have recovered.

According to definitive laboratory findings from yesterday to January 03, 2021, newly diagnosed patients with COVID-19 were 5,960 cases out of whom 497 patients were hospitalized, Lari stated.

She noted that in the past 24 hours, 102 COVID-19 patients had lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 55,540.

4,953 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, according to the spokeswoman.

So far, 7,777,488 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted across the country; the Health Ministry spokeswoman pointed out.

"Based on the latest statistics, the cities of Sari, Amol, Ramsar, and northern Savadkuh in northern Iran are regarded as red zones, 43 cities as orange zones, and 401 cities as yellow zones," Lari said.
