Iran Press/Iran news: "Instead of fighting COVID in the US, President Donald Trump & cohorts waste billions of dollars to fly B52s and send armadas to OUR region. Intelligence from Iraq indicates a plot to FABRICATE pretext for war," Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted on Thursday.
"Iran doesn't seek war but will OPENLY and DIRECTLY defend its people, security and vital interests," the minister said.
The tweet came after two American B-52 bombers flew a nonstop, 30-plus-hour, round-trip mission from the United States to the Middle East.
The new bomber flight comes one week after President Trump threatened to retaliate against alleged Iran's involvement in the attack at the US Embassy in Baghdad on Dec 20.
Also, in suspicious statements, a senior US military official who spoke to Fox News, claimed: "I think it is likely that the US Embassy in Baghdad would be attacked again in some manner."
"We're seeing planning for, particularly in Iraq for complex attacks that require Iranian assistance in order to be pulled off," the official said. "It's unclear to us, whether it's contingency planning, or whether it's a plan that is advancing because approval has been given and they're just trying to get all the pieces in place and execute."
