The full text of the statement by the Assembly of Experts is as follows:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O' noble and free nation of Islamic Iran! may God's peace and blessings be upon you.
While offering condolences on the martyrdom of the great leader, His Eminence Ayatollah Imam Khamenei (RA), other esteemed martyrs, especially the high-ranking commanders and the martyrs of the armed forces and the students of the Shajare Tayyiba School in Minab City, and condemning the brutal aggression of the criminal America and the evil Zionist regime, The Assembly of Experts announces that immediately after the news of the martyrdom and heavenly ascension of the wise Leader of the Islamic Revolution was published, and despite the acute war conditions and direct threats by the enemies against this popular institution along with the bombing of the offices of the Secretariat of the Assembly of Experts, which led to the martyrdom of several employees and the security team of this complex, this assembly did not hesitate for a moment in the process of selecting and introducing the leadership of the Islamic system and, in accordance with the duties stipulated in the Constitution and the internal regulations of the Assembly of Experts. Then, it put the necessary measures and arrangements on its agenda to hold an extraordinary session and introduce the new leader. Therefore, appropriate planning and necessary coordination were carried out for the gathering of the esteemed representatives of this Assembly who are present in all parts of the country, so that despite intelligent predictions in Article 111 of the Constitution for the formation of a temporary council, the country does not suffer from a leadership vacuum.The Assembly of Experts, by honoring the high position of the Guardianship of the Jurisprudence in the era of the occultation of Valie Asr [Imam of the time Mahdi] (may Allah hasten his reappearance) and the importance of the issue of leadership in the Islamic Republic system, honors the 47 years of wise governance based on the principle of dignity, independence, and authority of the two Imams of the Revolution, and while honoring the memory of those divine and popular leaders, announces that after careful and extensive examination and using the capacity of Article 108 of the Constitution, in accordance with the religious duty and belief in being in the presence of God Almighty, in today's extraordinary session, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may Allah preserve him) is appointed and introduced as the third leader of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the decisive vote of the respected representatives of the Assembly of Experts.In conclusion, thanking the members of the Provisional Council of Article 111 of the Constitution, the Assembly invites the entire noble nation of Iran, especially the elites and intellectuals of the seminaries and universities, to pledge allegiance to the leadership and maintain unity around the axis of guardianship, and asks for the continued grace and favor of the Almighty God upon this country and its great people from His Divine Presence.
