Iran's top military official delivered a sharp rebuke to President Trump's recent rhetoric, warning that any conflict with the Islamic Republic would be a historic mistake for the U.S. leader.

Why it matters: 

The exchange comes as Tehran has consistently rejected the pressure campaign, asserting its inherent right to independence, sovereignty and self-defense. The Iranian general's response underscores the the country's readiness to counter any military aggression by the U.S.

 

What he's saying:

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces, dismissed Trump's recent statements as "immature" and unbecoming of a president.

General Mousavi questioned the logic of Trump threatening war while simultaneously calling for negotiations.

"If he seeks war, he should know it will be a lesson-learning battle," Mousavi stated, "the outcome will ensure he never dares to threaten the world again."

 

Context:

The U.S. rhetoric against the Islamic Republic of Iran has intensified, as it supported along with the Israeli regime recent January 8-9 unrest in Iran to overthrough the Islamic Republic after its fiacso during the 12-day war on Iran in June 2025.
