Iran Press/Iran news: On the occasion of the "Nurse Day" ceremony held at Masih Daneshvari Hospital where Saeed Namaki said that the medical staff especially nurses have carried out utmost efforts to combat COVID-19 and even some of them lost their lives.
Referring to nurses' financial challenges, Namaki added that Iran has faced an economic crisis especially cruel sanctions imposed by the arrogant US which have not let Iran provide medicine and medical equipment.
Namaki noted that medical staff with loyalty and endurance have done their duties perfectly.
Describing Masih Daneshvari Hospital as Iran's medical museum, the minister noted that Iran's biggest Organ-Implant section is going to be established at Masih Daneshvari too.
Namaki said that Masih Daneshvari hospital was the first place that declared its readiness to admit and hospitalize the COVID-19 patients by allocating 250-300 beds, and right now it is a center that offers its services to these patients.
He referred to the medical section and hospitals' readiness to fight the coronavirus since its onset from Wuhan, China.
Also as the next keynote speaker, the head of the headquarters for the management of operations against coronavirus in Tehran Alireza Zali stated that nurses have played a prominent role in the national fight against the coronavirus since its outbreak.
Out of the 145,000 nurses currently serving in the country's health care system, and about 60,000 of them have been diagnosed with the coronavirus and more than 100 have lost their lives, Zali highlighted.
Head of the headquarters for the management of operations against coronavirus in Tehran said: "One of the most important nurses' challenges is the lack of manpower and work pressure especially the second and third COVID-19 waves which imposed a lot of pressure on them."
Zali went on to say that since the outbreak of the disease in the country, many ordinary hospital beds have become intensive care units, adding that the difficulty of caring for patients in these wards is the same as the difficulty of working in the intensive care unit.
He stressed the need to improve nurses' working conditions and paying attention to their welfare such as reducing working hours.
Elsewhere, Ali Akbar Velayati, head of Masih Daneshvari hospital also elaborated on the Masih Daneshvari's history saying that the hospital has been chosen 7 times as a center to fight and treat Tuberculosis by World Health Organization (WHO).
Praising nurses' nonstop efforts to combat the coronavirus, the head of Masih Daneshvari hospital said that medical staff is playing a key role in the country.
Velayati also noted the aims and objectives of Masih Daneshvari hospital which are medical staff's knowledge, ethic, and respecting human dignity.
