Iran Press/ Iran news: Referring to the impact of the new Rimdan border terminal on the economy of Iran and Pakistan, Dariush Amani, deputy director of the Iranian Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, added: "In addition to developing trade and passenger exchanges between the two countries, the Rimdan-Gabd border terminal between Iran and Pakistan will accelerate transit lines and economic exchanges with Pakistan, India, and China."
According to Amani, currently, 140 trucks and 400 Iranians and Pakistanis cross the Rimdan border daily.
Also, the Representative of Chabahar in Parliament Moeinoddin Saeedi said on Sunday that the Rimdan-Gabd border crossing will be the border of friendship and cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
Due to its strategic location, he said this border crossing solves many national and transnational problems.
The Rimdan-Gabd border crossing was inaugurated on Saturday, December 19, in the presence of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, the Minister of Defense Industries of Pakistan, and some other officials of the two countries.
Iran and Pakistan, with a 1,000-kilometer border, previously had only one Mirjavah-Taftan border crossing.
Facilitating access to the Iranian market, increasing exports-imports, and making better use of the capacities of the two neighboring border provinces are among the benefits of the new Rimdan-Gabd crossing.
The Rimdan border crossing in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran, due to its proximity to the ports of Gwadar and Karachi in Pakistan, could be the most cost-effective route to reach $5 billion in annual trade between Iran and Pakistan.
