"Najee' Wa Medad" ceremony has been hold in beirut with the presence of scholars and seminary students to honor Hezbollah's martyred scholars.

Why it matters:

Hezbollah's martyred scholars, including former Hezbollah Secretaries-General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din efforted to make the group based in strong roots, strong and independant. Holding such ceremonies can encourage the next generations to effort for making progress and follow the path of Resistance.  

 

The big picture:

Former Hezbollah Secretaries-General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din were killed in an Israeli attack in September 2024. The "Najee' Wa Medad" ceremony, which refers to the martyr's blood and scholar's writings, aims to protect the everlasting impact of martyrdom and knowledge.  Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem also gave speech in the ceremony, focusing on the path of Resistance and how the scholars can affect the richness of this way.

 

What they're saying:

Director of the Ahl al-Bayt Seminary in Bint Jbeil, Sheikh Mousa Sweidan in his interview with Iran Press stated: "We have the right to address the martyred leader and say: We remain true to the covenant. This is a statement we commit to and act upon."

The father of two Lebanese martyrs, Mohammad Khashafi emphasized that the significance of the event lies in highlighting the role of the scholars of the resistance, those whose contributions go beyond religious guidance, as they dedicate their lives and the lives of their children to the cause of resistance.

Seminary and university professor, Hussein Kashakesh noted that targeting the resistance and its community is a strategy used against them. He added that students of religious seminaries proved in the recent battles that they are a vital part of the Resistance structure.

Another participant, Sheikh Abdul-Latif Habash, emphasized that the late martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah never distinguished between Sunnis and Shias and called on the nation to avoid division and preserve unity in the face of occupiers.
