Zarif: US must leave region

Tehran (IP) - The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran reiterated the need for the United States to withdraw from the region.

Iran PressIran News: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in an interview with Afghan-TV TOLO news which will be broadcast on Monday said: "We have always been saying that Americans must leave the region."

Iran repeatedly stressed that the presence of foreign forces, especially US forces is a source of instability in the region including Afghanistan and calls for foreign troops for an orderly and responsible withdrawal from the regional countries.

Asked about the Taliban and Iran's ties with the Afghan government, the Iranian foreign minister said: "Iran has not yet removed the Taliban from the terrorist list under its own laws."

In this interview with Afghan media, Zarif talks about a wide range of issues including Afghanistan-Iran ties, Iran-Taliban relations, and Afghan refugees and migrants residing in Iran.
