Portugal (IP) - Iran's ambassador to Portugal tweeted slamming the EU's double standards, protesting the EU over not condemning executions on US soil.

Iran PressEurope: On his Twitter account, Morteza Damanpak-Jami stated on Friday: "Does the EU really believe that the death penalty is a cruel and inhumane punishment? Then how about the executions of these 10 in the US? Where is the European External Action Service (EEAS) statement to condemn this act in the strongest terms? Shame on your double standard!"

At the end of his tweet, he used HumanRights and Khashoggi hashtags.

The Iranian ambassador has attached two photos in his tweet.

The first photo was related to the condemnation of the execution of Ruhollah Zam by the European Union, and the second photo was a tweet of CNN, in which the execution of 10 people this year in the United States were mentioned.

Members of the European Parliament passed a resolution yesterday (Thursday) accusing Iran of what it calls "human rights violations."

European lawmakers had criticized the execution of Ruhollah Zam in the resolution.
