The opening up of the Quetta–Zahedan flight route will lead to the expansion of trade, pilgrimage, and tourism between Iran and Pakistan. The establishment of a direct flight between Quetta and Zahedan, air connectivity between the two centers in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province and Pakistan's Balochistan Province, has officially begun, opening a new route to strengthen trade, pilgrimage, and tourism between the two neighbouring countries.

Why it matters: Direct flights between Quetta and Zahedan will significantly boost tourism and trade between the two neighbouring countries.

The latest: According to Iran Press news agency from Islamabad, the official inauguration ceremony of this flight was held at Quetta International Airport, attended by 'Jafar Khan Mandokhail,' Governor of Balochistan province, 'Mohammad Karimi Tudeshki,' Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and a group of officials, businessmen, and tourism activists from both countries.

Zoom in: Speakers at the event highlighted the historical, cultural, and religious bonds between Iran and Pakistan, noting that this new air route can facilitate the travel of pilgrims, businessmen, and tourists and strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries to a new level.

The launch of the Quetta–Zahedan flight comes at a time when, in recent months, the number of direct flights between Iran and Pakistan has significantly increased.

Currently, there are more than 15 weekly flights from various cities in Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Quetta, to the cities of Mashhad, Tehran, and Zahedan; a trend that signifies the expansion of friendly and growing relations between the two neighboring countries. This new air route not only reduces travel time between the two cities to less than an hour but also provides a new opportunity to increase cross-border trade exchanges, develop religious and public tourism, and foster closer connections between the brotherly nations of Iran and Pakistan.
