Iran’s top military commander issued a strong warning against any attack on the country, saying Iran would respond with overwhelming force.

The big picture:

The statement signals Iran’s readiness to retaliate in case of military escalation.

It underscores Iran’s confidence in its missile capabilities despite adversaries’ advanced defense systems.

The rhetoric may heighten tensions with Israel and the United States, especially amid ongoing regional conflicts.

What they’re saying:

“If Iran is attacked, we will unleash hell,” said Major General Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

He made the comments during a meeting with Iraq’s national security advisor.

Pakpour said Israeli-American forces had relied on missile defense systems like THAAD, but Iranian missiles successfully hit their targets.

“Our response will be stronger than the 12-day Sacred Defense,” he added, referring to a previous military confrontation.
