On Friday, the Gaza Health Ministry denounced Israeli forces for abducting nurse Tasneem Marwan al-Hams, daughter of Dr. Marwan al-Hams—the ministry’s field hospitals director—who himself is imprisoned by the Israeli regime.

What has happened:

The ministry said she was taken by a special unit while en route to her post in Khan Younis.

Palestinian officials called the incident a “flagrant violation” of humanitarian law and protections for medical personnel.

The ministry demanded Israel disclose her whereabouts and held it responsible for her safety.

It also urged international actors to intervene and protect healthcare workers and their families.

By the numbers

  • According to the ministry, 227 people were injured in Israeli airstrikes over the past 24 hours.
  • Since Oct. 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has reached 66,288, with 169,165 wounded.
  • Thousands more are believed to be buried under rubble across the Strip.

Zoom out

A new WHO report says nearly 42,000 Palestinians have suffered “life-changing injuries” since the war began.

25% of the injured are children.

Over 5,000 people have undergone amputations.

“Kids who’ve lost limbs suffer lasting psychological trauma,” said Dr. Khamis Elessi, a neurorehabilitation specialist.

Many parents are forced to carry their wounded children and walk up to 10km to escape bombardment, he added.
