At a Thursday evening gathering attended by prominent religious, social, academic, and political figures, Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam stressed that Iran consistently stood up to and defeated colonial powers. He described Israel's request for a ceasefire as proof of the regime's failure, adding that the sacrifices of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah have ensured that the resistance front remains strong today and continues to achieve victories in Gaza.
Speakers at the ceremony — among them Quaid-e-Millat Jafariya Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, Islamic Ideological Council member Syed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, and Pakistan Youth Movement Chairman Abdullah Gul — praised Iran’s role in defending Gaza, noting that Tehran and Islamabad remain among the few Muslim nations to have openly raised their voices for the oppressed Palestinian people.
The speakers said the Israeli regime’s recent assault on Qatar once again exposed Washington’s true face, showing that the United States is willing to sacrifice even its closest allies for its own interests. They described Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah as a history-making figure who instilled in the resistance a spirit that inspired seekers of truth across the world. Despite years of aggression, they stressed, Israel has miserably failed to achieve its ambitions while the resistance in Gaza remains firm.
A book dedicated to Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was also unveiled at the ceremony, featuring reflections from various figures on his life and legacy.
In interviews on the sidelines of the ceremony, Christian Study Centre official Christopher Sharaf said Nasrallah’s martyrdom was a source of inspiration, noting that “his greatest achievement is that he gave his life for others… even Christians always felt safe because of him.”
Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leader Syed Nasir Shirazi emphasized that Nasrallah and Hezbollah built a vital deterrence that thwarted the Israeli regime’s expansionist plots. “The resistance organisations proved they can effectively deter Israel, and the map of Greater Israel and the so-called New Middle East cannot be realized,” he said.
Senator Sahar Kamran also paid tribute, stressing that “though a year has passed, the martyr lives forever… because of them, countries are recognizing the Palestinian issue and condemning Israeli atrocities and genocide. God willing, Palestine will soon be a free state.”
