Crosetto stated: “Regarding the recent attacks on the Sumud Flotilla ships, which also carry Italian citizens, conducted using drones by unidentified perpetrators, we can only express the strongest condemnation."
He stressed that “In order to guarantee assistance to the Italian citizens on board the flotilla, after discussions with Chief of the Defense Staff and an assessment of the incident, I spoke to the Prime Minister and authorized the immediate deployment of the Navy’s multi-purpose frigate Virginio Fasan, which is already en route to the area for possible rescue operations.”
