The US Senate passed a military budget bill called the National Defense Authorization Act, despite threats from Donald Trump.

Iran PressAmerica: The Senate passed the $ 740 billion bill Friday night with 84 votes in favor and 13 against. Last week, the House of Representatives approved the bill by 335 votes in favor and 78 against.

Trump had threatened to veto the bill if approved by Congress.

The bill calls for a halt to the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and Germany and postpones it until further considerations are made regarding its effects.

The defense bill also calls for imposing sanctions on Turkey due to the purchase of the S-400 defense system from Russia.

With more than two-thirds of members of both houses of Congress voting in favor of the bill, it is likely that they will be able to overturn Trump's veto if the US president does as threatened. 219
