Iran Press/ Iran News: In a message on his Twitter account on Thursday morning, Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that Iran-Afghanistan relations are an excellent example of good neighborliness in the region.
Today, the big step is the Khaf-Herat railway; the tweet reads, adding: "We proudly stand with the fraternal nation and government of Afghanistan on the path of stability and development of this country."
Operation of the Khaf-Herat railway is an important step in the development of the railway network, which can increase Iran's share in the transit of goods between Europe and Asia, and strengthen its position in the east-west corridors.
This big railway project is scheduled to be officially put into operation today (Thursday) in the presence of Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and a number of other officials via videoconferencing.
Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami on Wednesday announced the government's investment of about 2,800 billion Tomans for the completion of the Khaf-Herat railway.
The project is about 140 km long and now all its stations and lines are ready for operation.
