USA(IP)- Criticizing the performance of the Security Council, Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations said: "This body is facing a crisis of legitimacy and credibility due to its poor, passive and in some cases illegal and extra-legal activities."

Iran PressAmerica: "Majid Takht-Ravanchi," Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, on Sunday stressed in his speech to the UN General Assembly: "The UN Security Council should not be a tool in the US toolbox."

Takht-Ravanchi called the Security Council dominated by Western countries and stated: "This council has been abused by some permanent members and has not been held accountable for its actions."

Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations added: "The Security Council is undemocratic due to the weak presence of developing countries in its membership."
