Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser Mohammed Al Sabah said in a statement on Friday: "Fruitful discussions have taken place in the past period, where all parties affirmed their keenness on the Persian Gulf and Arab solidarity and stability and on reaching a final agreement that achieves the aspired permanent solidarity between their countries.''
Qatar's Foreign minister Muhammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani also said the Kuwaiti statement is an imperative step towards resolving the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council crisis. We express our gratitude to the State of Kuwait for their mediation & the United States for their efforts. The interest and security of the people of the Gulf & the region remain our top priority.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt cut ties with Qatar on June 5, 2017, accusing it of supporting terrorism, and closed their land, sea, and air borders to Doha.
These countries had set 13 conditions for the resumption of relations, but Qatar has so far refused to do so, saying the conditions violate its sovereignty.
