Qeshm (IP) - Shrimp farms in Qeshm, located in Hormozgan province, southern Iran, will double by the end of the current Iranian year(starting on March 21), which will increase its export capacity.

Iran Press/Iran news: With the double enhancement of shrimp farms in Qeshm to 4,000 hectares, more than 30,000 tons of shrimp will be harvested annually.

Officials of Hormozgan province consider the investment in the farms and completion of the value-added cycle with the aim of branding and developing the fishery industry on Qeshm Island.

Currently, 8 shrimp farms are active in Qeshm and more than 800 people have been directly employed with 2,200 others indirectly.

There are five well-equipped and advanced processing, packaging, and refrigeration aquaculture factories on Qeshm Island, some of which have European EC code for export.

Completing the production and export cycle of fishery products on Qeshm Island will bring more currency to Iran and causes national production to flourish.
