Iraqi Defense Minister: Iran stood by us in war against ISIS

The Islamic Republic of Iran has sided with Iraq in the fight against the ISIS terrorist group, the Iraqi Defense Minister said.

Iran PressMiddle East: "Iran is a neighbor and friend, and we have relations with each other," Iraqi Defense Minister Juma Anad Saadoun told Iraq's Dijlah TV channel about his recent visit to Tehran.

He added: "Iran stood by our side during the war against the terrorist group ISIS and had a lot of participation (in the war against this group) and people know that (Iran) fought with ISIS."

The Iraqi Minister of Defense added: "During this friendly trip, I met and talked with five officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the Minister of Defense, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council and the Chief Commander of IRGC."

He stated that during his trip to Tehran, he visited three exhibitions of military equipment.

During a two-day visit to Iran on November 15, the Iraqi Minister of Defense discussed the strengthening of military and defense relations and cooperation with high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
