Tehran (IP) - Iran's foreign ministry spokesman says the White House has no choice but to respect the Iranian nation’s rights.

Iran PressIran news: Answering Iran Press’ question about the possible return of the United States to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) after Joe Biden would enter the White House and the conditions of Iran, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh explained: "We cannot comment on it until a government enters the White House.”

Khatibzadeh referred to a recent interview by Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in which he explained Iran's position, reiterating: “What matters to us is US' behavior, not their words. We follow all developments and statements carefully and vigilantly.”

The spokesman stated that everyone in the world and the United States, except for the few people who are psychotically pursuing the war against the Iranian nation, realized that the US’ maximum pressure policy has led to a “maximum defeat.”

“Whoever is in the White House has no choice but to respect the rights of the Iranian nation,” he added.

Iran urges Canada to abandon double standards

"We hope Canada abandons double standards in behavior and practice," said Khatibzadeh on Sunday in his weekly press videoconference.

He referred to the summoning of the Italian ambassador to the foreign ministry as Canada's protecting power last week and added: "We expect the Canadian government to live up to its commitments and abandon double standards in behavior and action."

There are different areas in which the two sides can have good cooperation, he noted.

He pointed out that the Canadian government's approach has been destructive over the years.
