IRGC top official:

Tehran (IP) - Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, chief of Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that the US has always sought to divide Iraq, making rift among the Iraqi people and officials, adding that in contrast, Iran, as an old friend, seeks to unify and strengthen Iraq.

Iran Press/Middle East: Brigadier General Hajizadeh welcomed the Iraqi high-ranking military officials, who visited the IRGC Aerospace Force Center, and said: “Iran’s military capabilities in the fields of defense, UAV, ballistic missile, radar, and aerospace are entirely domestic and achieved through long efforts by Iranian elite and youth.”

Hajizadeh noted that the Iranian nation would never forget that the US' assassination of the Iranian top general Lt Gen Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the two public figures of both countries.

Iraqi Defense Minister Lt Gen Juma Anad Saadoun, who is in Tehran at the head of a military delegation, met with Chief of Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Amir-Ali Hajizadeh on Monday at the IRGC Aerospace Force center.

Lt Gen Saadoun thanked Iran for its support of the Iraqi army and nation in the fight against ISIS and saying that Iraq will never forget the brotherly help of the Islamic Republic of Iran against ISIS, hoping that the development of cooperation and relations between the two countries strengthens the Iraqi defensive power to confront the enemies of independence, security and peace of Iraq.

The two sides also exchanged views while stressing expanding military and defense cooperation.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Saadoun arrived at Tehran at the formal invitation of Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami.

During his stay in Tehran, the Iraqi defense minister will hold meetings with senior Iranian political and military officials.
