Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan quit his post on Monday, the ministry's spokeswoman wrote on Facebook.

The government of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has come under pressure with thousands of demonstrators protesting last week to demand he resigns, Reuters reported.

Hundreds of Russian peacekeeping troops have been deployed to the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh, following a deal to end the conflict in the region.

The agreement, signed by Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, follows six weeks of heavy fighting and advances by Azeri forces. On Sunday, Azerbaijan proclaimed victory in the region’s second-largest city.
