Iran Press/Iran News: In a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the occasion of the World Week of Disarmament on Saturday, the Secretary-General of Iran's Youth Human Rights Organization noted that the government of Saudi Arabia, supported by the Western equipment, is perpetrating war crimes, including targeting Yemeni people and totally disregarding discrimination between civilian and military targets.
Amin Ansari referred to the feasibility of trial and punishment of the war convicts in international courts and pointed out that if the oppressed people of Yemen have the political will and the serious support of the UN, especially the Security Council, the world will witness international criminal justice for the founders, perpetrators, and accomplices of the crime.
Ansari also called on the UN Secretary-General to reinforce his efforts to support the rights of the innocent people of Yemen and to use the capacity of this organization and its agencies to provide relief and humanitarian support to the victims and affected areas of the country.
Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, has launched a military invasion of Yemen since March 2015 and put it under land, sea, and air siege.
The war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed more than 16,000 Yemenis, injured tens of thousands, and displaced millions of Yemenis.
The Saudi military aggression has also left the impoverished country of Yemen severely short of food and medicine.
The Saudi regime and its allies have so far failed to achieve their goals in Yemen, mainly empowering their puppets, due to the resistance of the Yemeni people. 101
