Iran Press/ America: The US has registered over 228,000 deaths and almost nine million infections – both the highest in the world.
On Friday, India reported 48,648 new coronavirus infections related to the past 24 hours, bringing its nationwide cases tally to more than 8.08 million, according to local health authorities. The country also recorded 563 new fatalities due to COVID-19, pushing its death toll to 121,090. For now, India has the second-highest number of infections worldwide, behind the United States.
On Thursday, France and Germany moved toward shutting down some sectors of the economy as part of accelerating efforts to control a resurgent coronavirus and limit the financial fallout.
The Chinese mainland reported 25 confirmed cases on Thursday, including one local transmission in east China's Shandong Province, a nurse from an isolation ward at a local hospital.
China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Friday logged seven new confirmed COVID-19 cases, six were from overseas and one was epidemiologically linked with a local case, according to the Center for Health Protection (CHP).
