Iran Foreign Ministry reacts to US embarrassing offer to Sudan

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Ministry called the US' offer to remove Sudan from the terrorism blacklist to normalize relations with Israel shameful.

Iran Press/Africa: Iranian Foreign Ministry wrote in a Twitter message, “The White House announcement on Sudan couldn't be more symbolic.”

The Foreign Ministry added, “Pay enough ransom, close your eyes on the crimes against Palestinians, then you'll be taken off the so-called "terrorism" blacklist. Obviously, the list is as phony as the U.S. fight against terrorism. Shameful!”

US President Donald Trump announced Friday that Sudan would start to normalize ties with Israel, making it the third Arab state to do so as part of US-brokered deals in the run-up to the Nov. 3 election.

On the same day, Sudan said that Trump signed an official statement to take Sudan off its list of states sponsoring terrorism.

On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the US started the process of removing Sudan from his country's list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
