Iran Press/Middle East: "Sudan's joining others who normalized ties with the state of the Israeli occupation represents a new stab in the back of the Palestinian people and a betrayal of the just Palestinian cause," said Wasel Abu Youssef, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Speaking in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank Abu Youssef, a member of the PLO's Executive Committee, said the African state's decision to follow Gulf Arab states the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain "will not shake the Palestinians' faith in their cause and in continuing their struggle," Reuters reported.
In Gaza, Fawzi Barhoum, a spokesman of the Islamist group Hamas, a traditional ally of Sudan, told Reuters Sudan's move was a step in the "wrong direction."
The US President Donald Trump announced Friday that Sudan and the Israeli regime have agreed to normalize relations.
The announcement came less than two weeks before the US presidential election.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain signed the controversial normalization agreements with Israel at the White House on September 15, amid outrage across Palestine and the Muslim world.
Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani had earlier warned that the Zionist regime is promoting a plan through normalization of relations with certain regional countries through Washington's support, whose only goal is to help Tel Aviv establish its dominion over the region.
