The European Union (EU) on Thursday sanctioned Igor Kostyukov, the Russian military's intelligence chief, and a Russian institution known as the 85th Main Center or the 85th Center, for allegedly being involved in a 2015 hacking attack on the German parliament.

Iran PressEurope: Russia has previously denied the allegations in a statement stating that similar, baseless allegations concerning Russia's nuclear program have been made more than once.

The European Union (EU) has claimed that Russia has accessed German Chancellor Angela Merkel's emails in the cyber attack.

The union also sanctioned Dmitri Badin, an alleged hacker behind the attacks, along with a Russian military intelligence unit.
