Iran's ambassador to France said the US efforts to advance unilateral policies in the UN Security Council to extend Iran's arms embargo have been a "failure" for the United States.

Iran PressEurope: Bahram Qasemi, Iran's ambassador to France, wrote on Twitter on Sunday: "US countless actions contrary to international standards, and intensify the country's irrational and illegal efforts to advance unilateral policies in UN Security Council to extend Iran's arms embargo, due to the realistic view of the majority of countries in the world, was a failure for Washington."

The Iranian ambassador to France noted that "the US action is an opportunity to express the explicit opposition of the world to self-centeredness, monopoly and the United States' disregard for international standards."

"Iran will continue to work to strengthen global peace, stability, and security, and to use its internationally recognized mechanisms to protect its inalienable rights," Qasemi added.
