The representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, regretting the US disregard for the UN stance during the outbreak of the Coronavirus, called on the international community to unite against the scourge of Washington's unilateralism.

Iran Press/America: Mohammad Zareian, addressing a meeting of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly on Friday, acknowledged the destructive effects of unilateral sanctions and the need for full solidarity and respect for all human rights from the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak.

The United States, however, is exacerbating its disregard by imposing unilateral and illegal sanctions on countries most affected by the Coronavirus.

Zareian added that the maximum pressure on the Iranian people during the outbreak of the Coronavirus explicitly violates the right to life and the right to health, especially for the most vulnerable sections of the population, including women, children, the elderly and the sick.

The Iranian envoy also stated that the extraterritorial effects of unilateral coercive action by the United States against many countries affect the sovereignty of other countries, the legitimate interests of institutions or persons under their authority, freedom of trade and navigation, and disrupt the realization of the right to development.

Washington's unilateral and oppressive sanctions, which include basic items and even medicine and medicine, have caused many problems for the people of the countries facing US-sanctioned, especially coronavirus patients.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, recently criticized US hostile policies in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak, saying that the world could no longer remain silent in the face of US economic terrorism linked to medical terrorism.
