Iran Press/Europe: Russia has expressed hope that issues related to the Moscow-Tehran agreement on the abolition of tourist visas will be resolved in the near future.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news conference on Thursday that the Russian Federal Tourism Organization was working with Iranian partners on mechanisms to implement the agreement.
"We hope that this work will be completed soon and that the agreement will be implemented," she added.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman; however, pointed out that the timing of the agreement would depend on the prevalence of the coronavirus in Iran and Russia.
The agreement to cancel the visa for group tourism between Iran and Russia was signed in March 2017 during the visit of "Hassan Rouhani", the President of Iran to Moscow.
"The generalities of this agreement have been approved and the details are being considered," said Iran's Deputy Minister of Tourism at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, Vali Teymouri in September last year.
He went on to say: "It has been decided to formulate an executive plan showing with what mechanism and process we can carry out this action, and to agree on which agencies and what process the field contracts will be in the form of an execution plan, and negotiations have been held."
"We are investigating various cases so that we do not face any problems later, and do not give special privileges to certain companies in this regard," Teymouri added.
"This visa waiver is mutual, and is intended for group travel, which will take place by selected agencies in both countries," he stressed.
