The first group of freed Yemeni prisoners of the Army and Popular Committees arrived at Sana'a International Airport.

Iran PressMiddle East: According to the Almasirah correspondent, the plane was carrying 108 of the freed prisoners coming from Seyoun Airport in the occupied city of Hadramout, indicating that three other planes would arrive successively from Seyoun and Saudi's Abha airports.

An official reception ceremony was held for the released prisoners upon their arrival at Sana'a airport, while the honor guard played patriotic melodies.

A delegation from the office of the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi, a large number of state leaders, civilians, and military personnel with a member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammad Al-Houthi, gathered to receive the prisoners.

Houthi Ansarallah movement resolved to swap some 15,000 detainees with Saudi backed side as part of a peace deal brokered by the United Nations in Stockholm back in 2018.

The head of the National Committee for Prisoners Affairs, Abdul Qader Al-Murtada, confirmed Thursday, that the prisoner exchange deal would be implemented on the agreed date after the problem that arose two days ago was resolved.

He added that the deal would be executed, on the specified (15 and 16 October), as it was decreed.

UN envoy Martin Griffiths hailed it as a “significant milestone” when the agreement was struck after a week of talks in Switzerland last month.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, has launched a military invasion of Yemen in March 2015 and put it under land, sea, and air siege.

The war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed more than 16,000 Yemenis, injured tens of thousands, and displaced millions of Yemenis.
