A drone strike targeting Rohingya refugees escaping Myanmar resulted in the deaths of numerous individuals, including families with children. Survivors were reported to be searching among the bodies to identify their deceased and injured loved ones.

Iran Press/Asia: Four witnesses, activists and a diplomat described drone attacks on Monday that struck down families waiting to cross the border into neighboring Bangladesh.

A heavily pregnant woman and her 2-year-old daughter were among the victims in the attack, the single deadliest known assault on civilians in Rakhine state during recent weeks of fighting between junta troops and rebels.

The Arakan Army, the military wing of the state's Rakhine ethnic group, denied responsibility for the assault, and expressed condolences to the victims and their families.

However, two self-described survivors blamed the group for the attack, as did Rohingya activists and Myanmar's military government.

The Myanmar government considers the Rohingya minority illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, while the United Nations considers them the most persecuted minority in the world.

Since August 25, 2017, thousands of people have been killed and injured following the repressive and aggressive attacks of the Myanmar army against Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine province, west of this country. More than one million Rohingya Muslims have also been forced to flee to Bangladesh. 219
