The Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority said that the US President Trump's reelection would be disastrous for the Palestinian people.

Iran PressMiddle East: "If we are going to live another four years with President Trump, God helps us, God helps you and God helps the whole world," Mohammad Shtayyeh said Tuesday.

Shtayyeh said that he hoped a victory for former Vice President Joe Biden in November would instead raise the prospects of a peace deal, according to AP.

"If things are going to change in the United States I think this will reflect itself directly on the Palestinian-Israeli relationship," he reportedly continued. "And it will reflect itself also on the bilateral Palestinian-American relationship."

His comments follow a series of moves by the Trump administration that have damaged US-Palestinian relations, including the decision to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al Quds as well as a peace plan offered by the White House that was swiftly rejected by Palestinian leaders.

Palestinian diplomatic offices in Washington have also shuttered under the Trump administration and millions of dollars in aid to Palestinian refugees have ended under Trump's presidency.

Palestinian leaders typically refrain from commenting on the US presidential elections.
