The Iranian ambassador to Kabul and the chairman of the Afghan Supreme National Reconciliation Council discussed the Afghan peace process.

Iran Press/ Asia: Iran's ambassador to Kabul Bahador Aminian in a meeting with Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of Afghanistan's Supreme National Reconciliation Council, on Monday, discussed Afghanistan's peace efforts.

In this meeting, the Doha talks, the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other countries in the peace process were discussed.

Abdullah recently returned from a four-day trip from India. He spoke with Indian officials, including the Prime Minister, about the Afghan peace process.

The Iranian ambassador in Kabul also met with former Afghan President Hamid Karzai to discuss the peace process.

The latest developments in the Afghan peace process and steps taken in this regard were discussed during the meeting with Karzai.

The first round of intra-Afghan talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban militant group officially kicked off on Saturday in the Qatari capital Doha.
