Iran Press/ Iran News: Ghalibaf said on Monday that the forthcoming period is an excellent opportunity for Iran and Russia to develop their parliamentary relations and accelerate cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that the continuation of the Tehran-Moscow dialogue would be useful both in the regional and international levels, stressing the continuation of constructive talks between the two countries.
Referring to the situation caused by the outbreak of the coronavirus, Ghalibaf said: "The coronavirus pandemic has affected some cooperation between the two sides, but in the current situation, we expect this cooperation to continue more rapidly by observing health protocols."
He called the escalation of tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, worrying, adding: "We should try to stop the clashes and end the existing conflicts through dialogue."
At the beginning of the conversation, Vyacheslav Volodin underscored the development of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Russia and called the various types of cooperation between Iran and Russia an essential part of the relations between them.
He noted: "The Russian parliament is ready to help facilitate relations in all fields with the Islamic Republic of Iran."
Referring to the escalation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Karabakh, the Speaker of the Russian State Duma said: "We believe that this conflict should be resolved peacefully through dialogue and negotiation."
According to Russian media reports, the Conference of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, and China on Counter-Terrorism will be held in May 2021 in Sochi.
