Tehran (IP): Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh referred to the Armenia and Azerbaijan clashes in the northwestern border of Iran, said that Tehran cannot tolerate conflict on its borders.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stated during his press conference that on October 4, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, on behalf of President Rouhani, paid a half-day visit to Kuwait to express his condolences to the Kuwaiti government and people on the death of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

He also met with the new emir of Kuwait to congratulate him.

Zarif talks on the Karabakh conflict

According to Khatibzadeh, before that, FM Zarif also had a telephone conversation with Lavrov on the subject of Karabakh, which was also a detailed conversation in which Iran continues to pursue its policies. Before that, he had talks with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman added that "I would like to reiterate that Iran is examining the war on the northwestern border of Iran with sensitivity and in close contact with all parties. From day one, Iran announced to all parties that there was no military way to resolve it. While emphasizing respect for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as the withdrawal of troops from the occupied cities".

"We emphasize the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities. The Islamic Republic of Iran has also prepared a plan, which has been prepared in detail in the same framework, which will be followed up in consultation with both parties, and our neighbors," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman added.

"We hope that both sides will avoid further war and violence. Iran cannot tolerate conflict on its borders, especially aggression on its soil," he noted.

Saudi Arabia must abide by its NPT commitments

"We also remind Riyadh to pay attention and adhere to its international commitment and allow the international and legal investigations regarding some of its hidden and overt activities to be done carefully," the spokesman noted.

He also referred to the Iraqi Foreign Minister's visit to Iran and said: "During the recent visit of the Iraqi Foreign Minister to Tehran, various issues were discussed and we issued a statement and announced our positions."

"Maintaining peace and political stability in Iraq and respecting the authority is among our priorities, and all our efforts are to help the Iraqi government and governing bodies to manage the situation in the country as they wish," Khatibzadeh added.

He further referred to Tehran-Baghdad relations and added, "Third parties have openly confessed to they are trying to damage Iran-Iraq relations, but Iran-Iraq relations are multi-layered."

In response to a question about the conflicts between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Khatibzadeh said: "We have made it clear that all sides have to respects rules, the lives of civilians and places must be protected, and everyone must help end the conflict, and if no one helps, these tensions will increase."

"The UAE has been going in the wrong direction in some areas for years."

Regarding the UAE's claim about the three Iranian islands and the UAE oil pipeline project with Israel in the Persian Gulf, the Foreign Ministry spokesman stated: "For every country, no matter how much it makes mistakes in our neighborhood, regarding the good neighborliness policy we try to help them return to the right path of regional actions."

Khatibzadeh added: "Regarding the three islands, Iran does not ask permission from anyone to take action on its borders and territory."

"The three islands of Iran in the Persian Gulf have always undoubtedly belonged to Iran, and these statements do not create any rights for anyone and do not affect the exercise of Iran sovereignty."

The spokesman stated that the Zionist regime is declining and is trying to bring everyone else down with it in the drowning that is happening.

"I hope the current government of UAE will not be submerged by this regime," he expressed.

In response to a question, he said: "Talks have been held with the Turkish government and trip to Turkey will not be a problem as long as they concern Iranians living in Turkey, students, and those who have long-term and residential visas.

He noted that tourist trips had not been opened, and Iran does not want to open them.

South Korea's debt to Iran, the spokesman, stated: "Consultations are underway with South Korea, but it is not moving as fast as we expect."

"We had an agreement with South Korea on the purchase of the drug, but in the last two weeks, we have been facing delays in the purchase of the flu and corona vaccines from the Korean side, and we hope that the Korean side will realize the sensitivity and speed up the matter."

US, Khalilzad does not represent Afghan people

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman stressed that the US government and its representative for Afghanistan's affairs, Zalmay Khalilzad, do not represent the Afghan government. The inter-Afghan talks must take place between the Afghans themselves.

In his weekly press conference on Monday, Saeed Khatibzadeh addressed the US talks with the Taliban and the peace talks process in Afghanistan and said the inter-Afghan negotiations must be carried out under the framework of the Afghan constitution and the achievements of the Afghan people. 

Khatibzadeh noted that the US' scandal of invading the country and killing Afghan civilians and displacing them under the pretext of fighting the Taliban would never be deleted.

After 18 years, the US is proud to be negotiating with a group under the pretext of attacking the Afghan people, Khatibzadeh noted.

He expressed hope that these intra-Afghan talks are held genuinely between the Afghan people and stressed that Iran is in contact with all parties and ready to facilitate these talks.

Elsewhere he referred to the US and its allies' arms embargo on Iran over the past 40 years and said that Iran has supplied most of its military needs and come among the exporters of the equipment.

In case of the readiness for military interaction with Russia and other countries, Iran's Ministry of Defense will take steps, the spokesman said.
