Kuwait new Emir voices support for Palestine

The new Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah stressed that he would follow the late Emir’s legacy in support of the Palestinian cause.

Iran PressMiddle East: Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh on Wednesday phoned Sheikh Nawaf and offered him his heartfelt condolences over the passing away of late Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Sabah.

Haniyeh recalled Sheikh Sabah’s strong positions supporting the Palestinian people and their national cause, wishing the new Emir every success in leading towards further prosperity and progress, Palestinian Information Center reported.

The Hamas political chief expressed confidence that Kuwait would remain, under the new leadership, loyal to the Arab nation’s issues, especially the Palestinian cause.

For his part, Sheikh Nawaf expressed his appreciation to Haniyeh for his feelings and affirmed that the Persian Gulf state would remain adherent to the legacy of the late Emir and follow in his footsteps in support of the Palestinian cause.

In a related context, a high-level Hamas delegation led by former political chief Khaled Mashal paid a visit on Wednesday to the Kuwaiti embassy in Doha to offer the Movement’s sincere condolences to ambassador Hafiz al-Ajmi and the embassy staff over the passing of Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah.

Kuwait’s 91-year-old Emir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah died on Tuesday in a hospital in the United States.
