Tehran (IP)- In a meeting between Iran's Road Minister and India's Ports and Shipping Minister a significant agreement was reached on the partnership of India Ports Global Ltd (IPGL) with Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a recent meeting between Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, and India's Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, a significant agreement was reached regarding the partnership of India Ports Global Ltd (IPGL) in equipping and operating the Freight and container terminals of Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar.

During the signing ceremony of the contract, Bazrpash expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with India, emphasizing the trust that Iran has in its partner.

He highlighted that the development of relations between the two countries is a top priority for the Iranian government.

Bazrpash also mentioned that Iran offers great transit opportunities for countries looking to utilize its capacity. He emphasized that Iran is a safe and cost-effective option for transporting goods to various parts of Asia and beyond.

The Minister further stated that the growth in transit by 58% compared to 2022 demonstrates Iran's commitment to enhancing the transit industry in the region.

He pointed out that Chabahar Port plays a crucial role in this development.

Looking ahead, Bazrpash expressed optimism about the future operation of the Chabahar railway to Zahedan and Sarakhs, which he believes will further elevate the importance of Chabahar port as a key hub for transit development in the region.

Meanwhile, Sarbananda Sonowal in a post on the X platform said:"
