Iranian Health minister urges global stance against US unlawful sanctions

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Health and Medical Education has called for a global call to end US illegal and unilateral sanctions.

Iran PressIran News: Iranian Health Minister Saeed Namaki in a letter to Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organization, published on Tuesday, referred to the simultaneous fight against the coronavirus and the imposition of unilateral and illegal US sanctions against the people of Iran.

He noted that blocking Tehran's access to banking channels around the world has damaged Iran's economy and disrupted important trade activities, including drugs and medical equipment {transactions}.

The Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education of Iran added: “The medical community, by its oath, has a human duty to help lift drug and food sanctions in Iran.”

Namaki stressed that the Iranian people have undergone hardships in the past seven months: "The legal and legitimate expectation in this emergency is for the World Health Organization, the United Nations and all international agencies to ensure that medicine and humanitarian items are available to the Iranian people."

According to the latest statistics of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education of Iran, the total number of COVID-19 patients in the country has reached 391,112, of which more than 22,000 have lost their lives.
