One dead, two injured in Beirut's armed clashes

The Lebanese army deployed to the streets of Beirut Monday night after a deadly armed clash broke out in the Tariq al-Jadideh neighborhood.

Iran PressMiddle East: RPGs and machine guns were used between two groups of men, which led to one death and two injuries, a statement from the army said.

The army deployed four armored vehicles and several soldiers to the area, in a video shared on social media.

On August 4, a massive explosion took place in a nearby warehouse in the port of Beirut, containing 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate, following a massive fire in a warehouse that stored flammable stuff.

191 people killed in the incident, and more than 6,000 were injured.

The Beirut explosion, however, had a strong political dimension to the point that street protests led to the resignation of Lebanese PM Hassan Diab's cabinet.
