Tehran (IP) - The Special Aide to the Iranian Parliament Speaker and the Secretary-General of the International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada Hossein Amir-Abdollahian believes that blasphemy against Muslim sanctities threatens global security.

Iran Press/Iran News: "Charlie Hebdo blasphemy to Prophet Muhammad and desecration of the Quran in Sweden is deemed as a resumption of ISIS terrorism against Islam," Amir-Abdollahian said.

"The abhorrent moves and extremism provocation have no room in democracy and freedom of expression, but is a serious threat to the discourse of the divine religions and to peace and security," he added.

Charlie Hebdo, infamous for its irreverence and accused by critics of racism, regularly caricature religious leaders from various faiths and republished them soon afterward.

The Charlie Hebdo weekly drew controversy for publishing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in 2006, 2011, and 2012 and has republished them recently.
