Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, the Head of Iran's Seminary, called the desecration of the Holy Quran in the name of freedom as a 'ridiculous' act.

Iran Press/Iran News: Ayatollah Arafi in response to the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden stated that blasphemy towards the Holy Quran and the irrational act of burning the holy book, which is the source of hatred and disgrace from time to time, this time turned out to be more shameful and disgraceful in the days of mourning for the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS) and it has aroused the anger of the freedom-seeking men and followers of the World divine religions, especially among the Islamic Ummah.

Condemning this stupid act, he called on the nations of the world to take a clear stance against this extremism, and also on international bodies to enact restraining laws and a common religious charter.

Sweden's far-right extremist groups set fire to a volume of the Holy Quran and trampled another volume during an illegal and unlicensed anti-Islamic demonstration in Malmö city of  Southern Sweden on August 28.

Following this event, the city of Malmö witnessed widespread protests and unrest where police arrested 20 people.
