Tehran (IP) - Addressing the US president, Chief of Presidential Staff Mahmoud Vaezi highlighted that the political arena is totally different from the trade, and if US President Donald Trump does not change his policy, he should expect repeated defeats.

Iran PressIran news: Reacting to the recent failure of the White House to extend arms embargo on Iran, the Chief of Presidential Staff Mahmoud Vaezi stated in his twitter account: "Supporting the preservation of JCPOA, once again the international community opposed US' unilateralism."

The US-proposed resolution draft to extend Iran arms embargo was put into a vote on Friday afternoon. In the Security Council vote, Washington got support only from the Dominican Republic for its resolution to extend the embargo, leaving it far short of the minimum nine "yes" votes required for adoption.

11 members out of the 15-member body, including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, abstained.

Russia and China strongly opposed extending the 13-year ban, which was due to expire on October 18 under a 2015 nuclear deal signed between Iran and six world powers.

During recent months, the US had put using the trigger mechanism and extending Iran arms embargo in its agenda to exert more pressure on Iran; but they will definitely face defeat as they were defeated in the recent voting process, Vaezi added.

He also said Trump should have learned during recent months that the political arena is totally different from trade's, and if he does not change his policy, he should expect repeated defeats.
