Grateful Iranian nation proud of its respectful war veterans steadfastness

Tehran (IP)- On the occasion of the anniversary of the proud arrival of the prisoners of war to the Islamic homeland, Iran's President emphasized in a message to the National Congress of Shining Diamonds that the grateful Iranian nation is proud of the steadfastness and strength of its respectful war veterans.

Iran PressIran News: In the text of Hassan Rouhani’s message, which was read on Sunday by Saeed Ouhadi, Vice President and Head of the Foundation for Martyrs and Veterans Affairs at the National Congress of Shining Diamonds, the President has written, “August 16 is the reminder of the proud return of the always proud prisoners of war to the Islamic homeland.”

The President has written, "The grateful Iranian nation is proud of the steadfastness and strength of its respectful war veterans and pays tribute to the patience and endurance of these models of stability.”

“On this occasion, on the thirtieth anniversary of the arrival of the dear veterans to the Islamic homeland, I respect the sincere sacrifices and devotion of these loved ones and wish them good health and divine success.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran is on the eve of the 40th anniversary of Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq War).

Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein launched the war on 22 September 1980 with the support of major powers especially the US and its allies in the region in 1980, a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

During the eight-year-long war, Iraq received all-out support from over twenty countries led by the United States.
