Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations in response to the rejection of the US resolution to extend Iran arms embargo in the UNSC has said that the move once again shows the US' isolation.

Iran PressAmerica: Majid Takht-Ravanchi in a message in his twitter account wrote: The result of the vote in UNSC on arms embargo against Iran shows once more the US' isolation.

"Council's message: No to unilateralism," Takht-Ravanchi wrote.

He added: "The US must learn from this debacle, It's an attempt to snapback sanctions is illegal, and was rejected bu int'l community, as was evident today."

The UN Security Council on Friday resoundingly defeated a US resolution to indefinitely extend the UN arms embargo on Iran, with the Trump administration getting support from only the Dominican Republic.

The vote in the 15-member council was two in favor, two against and 11 abstentions, leaving it far short of the minimum nine 'yes' votes required for adoption. Russia and China strongly opposed the resolution.  104/207
