The Spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Seyyed Abbas Mousavi stated that as always, Iran is ready to mediate and resolve the conflict between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking in a press conference in the city of Ardabil North-Western Iran  on Thursday, Mousavi lamented the conflict between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, adding: "The region does not have the capacity for more tension, and any conflict will not be in the interests of both sides."

He said: "As soon as we received the news of the conflict in the region, President's Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi contacted the officials of the two countries, and Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also called his counterparts from Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, expressing regret over the conflict." 

He said: "Iran believes that the regional  issues, especially the problems of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, should be resolved through dialogue and within a specific framework and Iran has expressed readiness to mediate between the parties to the conflict."

Mousavi called for more restraint on both sides of the conflict, adding: "The best way to reduce tensions and disputes, and resolve the issue peacefully in the region is to try to bring the views of the parties to the conflict, closer through dialogue and mediation."
