Tehran (IP) - Iranian Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raeisi said that we should appreciate the people since there has been progressing in the use of masks, and this is very commendable.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking in a video press conference, Raeisi stressed: "If we implement the culture of mask's use seriously, we will certainly witness a decrease in hospitalizations in the coming weeks. Observing social distancing, washing hands, and avoiding gatherings are definitely effective as well. It has been proven that attending gatherings, especially indoors, can be effective in becoming infected by the Coronavirus."

Raeisi stated: "Everybody should wear a mask for the sake of his own health and that of the others. If in a group, there are four masked people and one unmasked who is infected with the Coronavirus, it can affect those who have even worn masks between 30 to 50 percent negatively. Therefore, reminding those who do not wear masks by the people themselves can be helpful."

"Infection with the Coronavirus has increased after the holy month of Ramadan due to holding wedding and mourning ceremonies," Raeisi stated, adding: "Hence, it is very important that we comply with the health protocols. Travels also play an important role in the disease transmission. Family and group parties are also important and should be considered."

Iranian Deputy Health Minister reiterated: "Another important point is to observe and monitor the implementation of health protocols. To observe and monitor health protocols is not only on the Ministry of Health, and all organs and institutions must cooperate in this regard. This disease can cause the death of our loved ones in the country. Our request is for the infected people who are aware of their infection to stay at home and quarantine themselves and avoid any publicity. One of our problems is that infected people are in gatherings, and this causes other people to become infected as well."

Raeisi noted that wearing a mask is more important than what type of mask to wear, rephrasing this should lead to a change in our behaviour and lifestyle so that we can contain COVID-19.

Pointing to a certain cure for the virus, the Health Ministry official emphasized that there is not yet a certain medicine regarding the cure for COVID-19 in the world.

He added: "It is sometimes said that the European Union or the US Food and Drug Administration has recognized a medicine, but this is not included in COVID-19 diet therapy. The only cure for COVID-19 is proper and scientific care and not medicine."

The official noted: "Another point is prevention. About the Coronavirus infection, like any other disease without cure or vaccine, prevention is paramount."  104/207
