Tehran (IP)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message expressed congratulations on the arrival of Venezuela Independence Day and underlined the importance of developing friendly and strategic ties between two countries.

Iran Press/Iran News: In a message to his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani assured that under the shadow of the Venezuelan people and the government's resistance, "we will observe their success and victory".

He also wished health and success for Nicolás Maduro and happiness for the people of Venezuela.

Iranian Government Spokesman Ali Rabiei said on Friday (July 03), said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to send needed commodities to the Caracas, and US threats have not any impact on our trade ties with this Bolivarian country.

As Iran and Venezuela increased coordination in the face of a Trump administration which has pounded them with heavy sanctions, US federal prosecutors are seeking to seize four tankers sailing towards Venezuela with gasoline supplied by Iran, the latest attempt to disrupt ever-closer trade ties between the two heavily-sanctioned anti-US allies.

Last month, five Iranian oil tankers set off for the Caribbean and delivered about 1.5 million barrels of gasoline to Venezuela which is under a virtual American economic siege.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro praised the Iranian government for sending oil tankers saying he is scheduled to travel to Iran soon and will take part in a joint commission with officials from the two countries to sign agreements on energy, agriculture, finance, technology, science, and health.

The national independence holiday of Venezuela, marked every year on July 5 which celebrates the anniversary since the enactment of the 1811 Venezuelan Declaration of Independence, making the country the first Spanish colony in South America to declare independence.

In recent years, it is also marked as National Armed Forces Day to honor the faithful service of all the serving men and women and veterans of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela.
